News

The coding chick – Frances Advincula – has some insight on the benefits of Titanium for students and beginners.

Tips

This is a neat little tool to convert a Webkit-gradient to a Titanium Mobile Gradient.

David Bankier was inspired by Adobe Shadow to create TiShadow for titanium using node.js and socketIO to create code snippets in a browser and render the code across all iOS and Android devices. You can view how it works in this demo video. He then gave a full post on Forging Titanium Episode 23: TiShadow.

David Bankier also shared TiHighlight for on device coding for appcelerator Titanium. It lets you switch between JavaScript and CoffeeScript, to help you write code on the fly.

The Titanium Ninja Olivier Morandi details how profiling Titanium Apps is possible. Unfortunately, it is only for iOS for the time being, but so, so awesome. I hope to see in this in Titanium core sometime.

Christian Sullivan shared Fuse – Globally Available Objects, Namespaces and Node.js Style EventEmitters for Titanium Mobile. Currently only for iOS.

QuickTiGame2d – A 2D Gaming Module for appcelerator titanium now supports tiled map. The New video by @infosia shows you how it works.

The Appcelerator Dev blog highlights a few compatibility issues using Xcode 4.3 with Titanium, and details 2 possible solutions for you.

Apps

Facetouch is a fun app that lets you add hats, wigs and other accessories to all your images shared on your favourite social media platforms.

  2. Thanks for the mention! Am quite happy with the way Spinning Meals turned out, Titanium is impressive. Super low defect count, very clean, looks sharp. Now if we can only get people to realize that it’s out there, and what a big deal this is, doing meal planning and shopping in a whole different way…
